Perhaps one of the only times you'll see me wear a buttoned up collared top, I actually loved the softness of this Bardot shirt paired with this cute skirt by Finders Keepers and the pop of neon just finishes the look!  These amazing boots by Sol Sana are incredible and at a steal too - definitely one of Australia's underrated shoe brands out there.  And I'm so excited that Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia is just around the corner, I'm working with some cool people this year so I can't wait to show you what I have in store during Fashion Week - I'm still looking for fill up my wardrobe so if any designers want me to wear their pieces get in contact!

Gemstone

This is my second look which was shot for my The Iconic Magazine blogger feature and by far one of my favourites - the mystical print on this dress by Talulah siren called to me while the cute peplum twist made me felt more comfortable wearing such a figure hugging dress.  Paired with some glitter punk heels by Spurr and this A-MAY-ZING clutch by From St Xavier (which is perhaps one of the most underrated Australian accessories designers out there!) and this unicorn is ready to party!  
I'm usually not one for bodycon dresses, but this dress wasn't skin tight and with the lush peplum detailing managed to make me feel feminine without looking distasteful - definitely a rad dress!

Mermaid Unicorn

This was a fun shoot for The Iconic Magazine which involved me styling 4 looks around this sweet Ladakh studded jacket - we shot this during a scorching 34 degree (that's in celcius!) and each time we finished shooting a look, we had to peel it off me straight afterwards!  The new Iconic Magazine Autumn/Winter  issue is out now and I'm featured on page 40 so if you happen to get your hands on a copy be sure to send in some pictures to me either on Twitter or Instagram just tag me @lil_blackbook

This was shot in Wooloomooloo alongside the water, so luckily there was a nice breeze to cool us down and of course we couldn't go past some famous Harry's Cafe De Wheels pies as a celebratory high five to end the day.  This super cute dress by Keepsake the Label immediately caught my eye for its shimmery tweed/mermaidscale like texture and paired with these killer heels by  Sol Sana are a match made in heaven!

Candy Skulls

While making room on my external harddrive I uncovered some cool shots from New Zealand Fashion Week 2012 shot by my sister from another mister Olivia from Lust for Life.  Fusing two of my favourite NZ designers, this outfit retains two aspects of fashion that sings to me; rock n roll grunge aesthetic thanks to Stolen Girlfriends Club and super sweet feminine chic from Ruby. 

It's been overcast, wet and chillier in Sydney these past days and this outfit would be very fitting for a day like today.  One of my favourite coats and pony hair bags from Ruby's AW13 collection, my inner unicorn immediately fell for the super sweet pink and pony hair goodness.

Nouveau Lace

With a classical setting as our canvas, shot on the steps of the Art Gallery of NSW I felt kind of like a magical princess tottering around in my favourite JC lucite heels and amazingly luxe Shakuhachi lace/mesh maxi dress.  I had fun playing around with the afternoon sun and the shadows cast by the lace hem of this divine dress as well as the usual silly antics when shooting.  One of my favourite new necklaces by Melbourne brand Me oh My Vintage, this gold unicorn necklace looks as sweet as it appears! Who wouldn't want a bunch of unicorns as a necklace?

The dress taken from Shakuhachi's Parallel Lines AW 2013 collection is one of my stand outs from the new collection which features sweet floral prints, mesh and lace embroidery, super sweet cut out detailing and killer dresses for those nights out with the girls.  I can't wait to shift through more of the collection to play around with for future shoots!

Birds of Paradise

It's taken me some time and courage to break out from my standard monochromatic wardrobe (I guess I can call that my pre lilac years) and quite frankly, I have to thank my hair for providing me the inspiration and courage to experiment with florals, prints and warmer tones.  I would have never thought of daring to wear head to toe colour pre lilac hair years, that's for sure!  

This super cute Alice McCall silk top and silk print skirt immediately caught my eye and I just knew it had to be mine.  Alice McCall is known for her cute, flirty and super feminine aesthetic with embroidery and embellishments that's become synonomous with her label and this outfit hails from her soon to be released AW13 collection titled The Imaginarium of Kitty Leroy (which can be viewed here). Expect pops of teal, purple and apricot with beading embellishments and embroidery while florals and bird motifs feature throughout the collection.  Alice McCall is a label that allows you to dress up or dress down, feel fun and flirty and embrace your femininity - she always manages to hit the nail on the head, being on trend yet utterly characteristically Alice McCall! Yes mega fan girl here!

Birthday Unicorn

These beautiful balloons thankfully arrived just in time for my birthday editorial, though little did I know that the pièce de résistance that is, the unicorn balloon would be so BIG! Definitely one of my favourite shoots of 2013 I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I had shooting them!  I can't wait to show you the rest in the next few days.

 I received this super sweet Shakuhachi sheer top a few weeks ago around Christmas from Little Hero PR and have been waiting for the right moment to wear and shoot it - it pairs perfectly with my Finders Keepers skirt while the 2 Lyn and Tony clutch just adds the finishing touches to such a pastel outfit.  My birthday actually was spent splendidly with family and friends with gifts fit for a unicorn and finished off with a wonder night with friends at a new pizza parlour with a really rock n roll vibe complete with vinyl seats.   Thank you to everyone who wished me well and sent birthday messages!

GOLD RUSH

Over the last couple of months I've really pushed my satorial comfort zone by incorporating as much colour into my wardrobe as possible - the thought of not wearing black is scary to me.  However I managed to wear basically no black (I mean shoes don't count right?) - instead opting to play on my other favourite eyecandy, metallics.  Being a self confessed magpie when it comes to loving all things shiny and sparkily, this cute faux leather peplum top and skirt seemed like a match made in heaven. 

 It's a nice change for me, slowly venturing out and feeling comfortable wearing colours - I know that might sounds extremely strange but having spent nearly half my life embracing black and working with textures (I definitely wasn't goth) but it's true!  What I really am excited about incorporating into my wardrobe though is florals, baroque inspired pieces thanks to Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2012 which I still can't get out of my mind.   What trends or styles are you looking forward to wearing?

FROM AUCKLAND WITH LOVE: PART 3 - SHERBET

The final set of photos from the three part editorial series between Little Black Book and New Zealand style pack Foureyes: From Auckland with Love shot in the tranquil Auckland Botanical Gardens is here. After seeing the RUBY AW13 collection on the runway during NZFW I had the pleasure of popping into the RUBY studios to pick out a few of my favourite things. Seeing as NZFW somehow coincided with my love affair with colour, it was justified and well timed!
This cute Ruby purse will be released come February so keep your eyes peeled for that - its the perfect size: not too big, not too small plus you can choose from leather or my favourite pony hair! Hope you liked the final part of this series! Many more fun editorials to come in the future!

FROM AUCKLAND WITH LOVE: PART 2 - CUPID

From Auckland with Love: Part 2 brings together my love for another New Zealand label - this time it's all about RUBY. Wearing new pieces from the Mr Destiny AW '13 collection, I picked out a couple of my favourite pieces - the Cupid leopard print bustier dress and the warm (and chic) Mr Jones coat. With the sun shining, a light breeze blowing - the boys from Foureyes and I shot this second part of our three part editorial collaboration 'From Auckland with Love' in Auckland Domain; I just couldn't walk past this beautiful weeping willow tree. 

My time in New Zealand has strangely been a mini revaluation of my own sense of style - perhaps being in a different country means I can allow myself to explore and think outside the box. And many of my readers have even commented on how much colour I've been wearing - it is very odd for me to be wearing so much colour, its hard for me to do so but I'm enjoying it very much! Being back in Sydney, Australia I hope I don't go back to my monochromatic ways... only time will tell. Hope you enjoy Part Two!
